- (1 lb) Pork Sausage - Original SF
- (1 Bag) Coleslaw Mix
- (2 Cups) Cooked Rice
- (For Drizzling on top) Sesame Oil
I start by preparing my rice. You can use whatever rice you like! I personally like Basmati or Jasmine rice. Feel free to prepare your rice however you like, whether it's the instructions on the bag or your personal preference. I sometimes make my rice with broth or add a spoon of butter to my water before boiling. Since the sausage will already have a lot of fat in it, I won't add anything to my rice for this recipe.
While your rice is cooking, brown your sausage. Add your coleslaw mix into the pan once the sausage is ready to go. Depending on the size of your pan and or how much you want in there, you may want to only use half the bag. You can also cut up your own carrots and cabbage; I like the ease of it already prepared for me. It's like healthy fast food.
Cook the veggies to the texture you want. I personally don't like them super crunchy.
Once your veggies are done, throw in the rice and let it cook together for a couple of minutes while the rice absorbs the flavor.
Now for the Sesame seed oil! This stuff is so yummy, but a little goes a long way. Start with a light drizzle and add more if you see fit.
If you want to add a fun twist to this recipe, omit the coleslaw and add a 1/2 cup of kimchi instead!
