Our pigs have tails (here's why that's important!)

Remi here 🤠and today I want to share something most people have no clue about...
Did you know that in Missouri alone there are over FOUR MILLION hogs??? Yet you've probably never seen one.
That's because these hogs are being raised indoors on concrete or slatted floors most if not ALL of their lives.
And 81% of them are raised on farms with over 5,000 each!
Which leads us to the reason for my subject line...
Keeping pigs inside a tight, confined space makes them bored, frustrated, and anxious.
Because of this, farmers have to dock (remove part or all of) their tails to prevent them from getting bitten off by their cellmates. 😢
We don't dock tails.
Instead, at David's Pasture all pigs get to:
✔ Live outdoors on pasture
✔ Enjoy a low-stress life
✔ Keep their tails!
In our decade of raising pastured hogs we have found that tail-biting doesn't occur in a healthy environment.
It's no longer a secret that regenerative agriculture is better for both the environment AND the livestock.
Thank you for choosing to purchase your meats from regenerative farmers who care about the livestock they raise.
