Hi, I'm Remi! I was 11 years old at the start of this farming adventure in 2011, and when my parents moved back to their hometown in 2019, I decided to plant myself in Missouri and continue running the farm. Kaitlyn and I got married in March of '21, after working together most of 2020. She's not only the coolest person in the world (IMO), but she has a passion for animal care and natural living.
Together we currently manage all aspects of sales & marketing, and care for the pigs and young poultry. We are also the faces you'll most commonly see giving farm tours, or at the Brookside Farmers Market!
We find fulfillment in caring for creation and serving others, and love doing both of those from our small farm in Concordia, MO.
David and Kim began David's Pasture in 2011 after growing tired of corporate America, and the lies in our food system. They began with a single batch of chickens, and the business slowly grew over the course of time. In January of 2019, (most of) the Kesten family moved back to their home state of Florida to be with and care for relatives. Even so, they are still very much a part of David's Pasture.
John manages the beef herd and daily poultry moves. He is also an integral part of the planning and inner workings of the business. The Cox children enjoy helping with chores on the daily, and have begun growing their own shiitake mushrooms (stay tuned!)
Dave is a grandfather, family friend, and the world's best delivery guy! He's also Amber Cox's dad :) You won't meet anyone with a bigger heart, smile, or collection of practical jokes. He and his wife Pam live on the Cox's farm, and they can see us move chickens from their window!
Reeves is the third oldest of the Kesten kids. This year he's living in our tiny house and responsible for the poultry, pigs, and farm upkeep. As a boy, he was known as the Pig Whisperer. He's an animal lover and enjoys dogs, music, and everything about rural Missouri - except for the cold :P
He is working with us for this season and has hopes to begin a similar farm in Florida someday!
This is my mom's pot pie recipe. I was always so excited as a kid when I found out this was on the menu for the week!
She's made chicken, turkey, and rabbit pot pie. I decided to mix it up and give duck a try. I used a whole duck for this recipe, so not only did I get meat, but I also saved back the skin to fry up, and the carcass for some yummy broth!
This has become one of my favorite breakfast or I'm hankering-for-something-sweet to eat treat if ya know what I'm talking about.
It's hearty, and buttery. Can't get much better than that!
Pork steaks are super yummy! They're similar to pork chops. Pork steaks are cut from the shoulder roast and cost less than chops, whereas the chops are cut from the loin, making their price a little higher.
You can still enjoy a nice piece of meat that's tender and juicy while saving a little bit of money!
